Melanie Loizou's Experience:
-
Business Development Director at Kinetic Solutions UK
January 2014 - January 2015A global software company selling event management and accommodation management systems to the HE &FE sector, a variety of conference and event venues as well as property providers and housing associations. Having grown organically and enjoyed great success becoming the market leader in the HE sector, my remit was to create an organisational development strategy to enable the company to consolidate its strengths and create the necessary rigour required to deliver its vision of doubling revenue within five years. Established a framework to deliver the desired change across all three territories (UK & Europe, America, and Australasia). Implemented a company-wide programme to identify Kinetic's vision, mission and values, subsequently identifying and overseeing the implementation of a global roll-out plan. Devised and implemented a people strategy to encourage a shift towards team working and a high performance culture that would deliver enhanced customer service. Worked closely with the operational teams to devise a strategy that would facilitate the review and update of all operational processes to ensure that they were efficient and fit for purpose, with the ability to cope with the demands of future growth. Re-engineered the entire sales process resulting in a increase in sales of 30%.
-
Director of Campus Services at Royal Holloway, University of London
January 2012 - December 2013A fantastic job that enabled me to bring together everything I had learned from my previous roles. I feel very privileged to have led a team of 600 people, banishing a blame culture and replacing it with one that encouraged every individual to be the best that they could be on a daily basis. I didn't achieve this on my own and I am fortunate to have worked with some very talented people. The journey wasn't easy but incredibly rewarding. Responsible for a range of twenty services from catering to maintenance and sales & marketing to waste management, the challenge was to create a sustainable business, creating a strategy that was easily understood and could be implemented throughout the oragnisation. Values were created alongside a management charter that enabled a performance led culture to shine through. Two years on we had a structure that enabled us to put our customers at the heart of what we did with teams working together rather than in silos. We added 30% to the bottom line of the College's commercial account and were being recognised for the work that we had undertaken - in 2013 we were a finalist in the Leadership category of the British Quality Foundation Excellence Awards and a finalist at the National Management and Leadership Awards for 'Best Management Team". Alongside all of this Royal Holloway was proud to play its part in the 2012 Olympic Games, as the athletes village for the rowers and flat water canoeists competing at Eton Dorney. As Project Manager for Royal Holloway, I was tested to the very limits of my ability but am so proud of my team's performance to deliver an exceptional level of service when the world's eyes were upon us and receiving the accolade of being London's friendliest venue.

Director at Fish Climb Trees
January 2015Fish Climb Trees is a company that helps businesses and individuals embrace change and realise the opportunities it offers. We do this by taking the best tools that business consultants, coaches and trainers use, tailoring them to the specific challenge. The ethos of Fish Climb Trees is underpinned by Albert Einstein's quote: Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. Our approach is to work alongside businesses and their teams providing help wherever necessary - for some it is just guidance and provision of the right tools to do the job whilst for others it is a case of rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in. So if you are contemplating some sort of change and would like our support, please get in touch because fish really can climb trees!
